THRASS Information Morning

Dear Families,
As many of you know, Hampden uses THRASS (Teaching Handwriting, Reading and Spelling Skills) as a way of teaching phonetic understanding to our students. On the reverse of this letter there is further information about the THRASS philosophy to literacy teaching.
As a school we are very proud of the improvement we have seen in our students’ spelling. We are continuing to develop our capacity to teach spelling effectively and would like to invite everyone to attend our THRASS information open morning.
This will be a very important school event and we encourage as many parents/family members as possible to attend.
9:00-10:00: Parent Information Session led by Head of Curriculum, Carol Simpson.
10:00-10:30: Teacher Modelling Session: Join one of our teachers in one their classroom as we teach a spelling lesson using the THRASS approach. Marvel at our students’ linguistic ability to explore language!
All families who return the attendance slip below will receive a free THRASS pack valued at $20 to use on the day and at home to support your child’s spelling and literacy development.
